why (we do what we do)
My first "real" job was selling clothes at a men's store.

I had no experience in the clothing business, aside from what I had learned watching my grandmother work at her wooden sewing table in our apartment. She was an incredible seamstress, capable of assembling dresses, shirts and other fashions for her customers out of what seemed to be thin air.
But there I was: 16 years old, with full grown men placing their sartorial lives in my hands. What suit matches this tie? Which socks go with these brown shoes? (free tip: grey or blue are safe – but a bold pattern makes a statement.)
I was far more prepared for the job than I imagined, thanks to the lessons I learned from my grandmother -- and those lessons would underpin my entire career:

​Be honest with my customers;
Strive for creativity in everything (status quo is lethal);
Trust is earned - and is infinitely valuable; and
Provide value. ALWAYS.

These lessons have guided and shaped me; they’ve made me different, effective and helped to deliver a successful career.
